Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro

Building Support For The CAM

Background

We led the strategy and delivery of stakeholder and partner engagement on the Cambridgeshire Autonomous Metro (CAM), a £4bn project intended to transform the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region.

We navigated a complex stakeholder environment to unlock voices of support across central government, local government, universities and businesses.

CAM was envisioned to be the first metro of its kind in the UK: a 142km zero emission ‘trackless metro’, connecting Cambridge’s historic city centre to the entrepreneurial ecosystem that surrounds it and beyond.

Cambridge is a global leader in enterprise and innovation, but it lacks public transport infrastructure. The ambition of the CAM was to deliver world class infrastructure to meet the needs of a world class economy and deliver sustainable growth and development across the region.

Our CAM Campaign

  • Our work was key to shaping and defining the CAM in the early stages of project development. We created connections, built trust and increased support for the project.
  • By ensuring key players had the mechanisms to engage and that their impact and views were understood, we created the golden thread between CAM and its stakeholders.
  • Having been involved since the start, we continued to work with key stakeholders to build understanding and support for the project.
  • We worked with MPs, local authorities, global leading businesses in biomedical, software and life sciences, and one of the oldest and most prestigious universities, to increase awareness and support for the programme vision.
